Bolisat Xaiudom Laos
Our company has been harvesting and producing aquilaria products for the past five years under license from the government of the Lao PDR. We have 2 small distilleries in northern Laos producing 2 liters of Oud per month. We use the traditional Indian distillation method. As it has been done for hundreds of year, we collect the oil by hand. Bolisat Xaiudom Laos employs over 50 Lao and Vietnamese workers to collect the wood in the forest and then to sort the wood into different grades and qualities. The broken pieces of wood are used to make an Oud of good standard.
The rest of the wood is cleaned and divided into 5 different grades:
Wood inferior to Grade 4 is used for Oud and incense powder production. Agarwood is quickly
disappearing from the forest due to high demand. Our company's policy is
to replant agarwood trees not only to secure the company's future but also to ensure
the local villagers continued income so that they may never have to
cut down the forest anymore.
